New South East District 2011

Dear Honourable Members of the MDC Party

Greetings to you all in the name of Democratic Change.  I am pleased to advise you formally that the MDC-UK South East District was duly constituted today in line with the ongoing party restructuring exercise and as provided for by our party Constitution.  The District Elections held at the Methodist Church, Eltham, hosted by South East London Branch & presided over by Mr Owen Muganda the Interim Provincial Secretary produced the following results. The People have spoken! Your new executive is as follows:-

As your new District Secretary and on behalf of the newly elected Executive, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members that actively participated in today's elections and those that were with us in spirit.  This is a new chapter in our district and a great opportunity for us to work together as a family and rebuild our party of excellence and spearhead our struggle for a New and better Zimbabwe.

Receipt Books & the Unavailable Membership Cards

It is high time that the Interim executive should be held responsible for their actions. They got away with it when they were part and parcel of the uncouth Chawora administration. We are all now aware that we were being intimidated to purchase a nonexistent membership card and that our confidential data was to be fed into the MDC data base in Zimbabwe. It is now proving that that this was false information. This is another system which has been designed to syphon party funds.

The interim executive rushed to implement and collect money from members without checking the authenticity of the said receipts. They failed to realise that they are answerable to the general membership as opposed to the leadership, repeating the same costly mistake they are well known of. We now demand an explanation why they failed to take hid when concerns were raised. In simple terms they have failed us again.

The noble thing for the interim executive is to accept responsibility and explain the motive behind this saga.

First Executive Branch Meeting 2011

The first branch executive meeting was held on Wednesday 23^rd February 2011 at St Helen’s church, it was well attended and in presence were Stanford Biti the chairman, his Vice Jameson Mashakada, the unwavering Treasurer Vincent Mashakada, Organizing Secretary Charles Dliwayo, the fire brand Youth Chair Linah Mutambanuki, Women’s Chair veteran Ottilia Guvamombe, Secretary Joao Matandirani, and enthusiastic Committee members Patrick Nyamwanza and Angelbert Munjanja. The spirit and the atmosphere of togetherness prevailed throughout the purposeful meeting which ended at 22.00hrs.

Resolutions were made which are now waiting to be rectified by the branch. It was unanimously agreed that Tawanda Chiwira should stand as the District Youth Chair, and Vincent Mashakada was a good candidate for the Treasurer’s position.

I now call upon all the youth and the branch to brace themselves for the District and Provincial elections.
